about us
The New Hampshire Center for a Food Secure Future (NHCFSF) is a University of New Hampshire-based collaboration among diverse stakeholders in the food system including state agencies, non-profits, business and industry partners and associations, as well as educators and practitioners. The Center was created to address the need for coordinated, comprehensive action linking agriculture, the food environment and health and nutrition in our state and region.
In 2005, funding was awarded to the University of New Hampshire's Office of Sustainability, Department of Animal and Nutritional Sciences, and Cooperative Extension to conduct a comprehensive, stakeholder-focused planning process to inform development of a NH Center for a Food Secure Future. Planning conducted by a diverse range of stakeholders reflected a systemic approach encompassing state and regional agriculture, food distribution, marketing and other access issues, nutrition, and population health outcomes and interventions. The results of these efforts are detailed in the NHCFSF Strategic Plan (PDF).
